PHASE 1 – Fashion Culture and Research (Weeks 1–8)

Viewing and discussion of fashion shows: from the final product to research
Definition of the concept of “trend” and its dynamics
- Observation techniques and visual research
- Introduction to the creative process of a collection

PHASE 2 – Creative Tools and Visual Language (Weeks 9–16)

- Introduction to color theory
- Chromopsychology and color language
- Construction of coherent color palettes
- Analysis of photographic images
- Visual storytelling and narrative
- Paper and digital moodboards

- Introduction to digital tools for project presentation

PHASE 3 – Research and Development of the Concept (Weeks 17–24)

- Construction of the research notebook
- Analysis of contemporary trends
- Study of collections and significant case studies
- Cultural, artistic, and social research
- Construction of the concept board

PHASE 4 – Materials and Collection Development (Weeks 25–30)

- Introduction to textile materials
- Analysis of fabric characteristics

PHASE 5 – Final Project (Weeks 31–36)

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Conduct a design research through the collection, selection, and analysis of information, images, materials, and cultural references related to contemporary fashion.
  • Analyze and interpret fashion phenomena, identifying trends and sources of inspiration useful for creative development.
  • Develop a collection concept by translating an idea into a coherent and structured project.
  • Apply a design methodology by organizing the creative process from research to final presentation.
  • Create mood boards, concept boards, color palettes, and material folders with professional criteria.
  • Define the target audience and develop proposals consistent with the product positioning.
  • Select materials, colors, and product lines based on the design concept.
  • Develop a mini collection characterized by aesthetic, chromatic, material, and stylistic coherence.
  • Organize and present a professional collection book through effective visual communication tools.
  • Argue and present your design choices with technical and professional language.

The course is structured according to a design method inspired by the collection development processes adopted in the style offices of fashion companies, with a progressive approach that guides the student from initial research to the final presentation of the project.
